New Wooden Train for the kids to play on!

There's a wonderful new wooden train set in the park across the street from the B&B. It is really wonderful! I think it was donated as an Eagle Scout project. I'll have to post a picture soon! We spent this whole afternoon over there enjoying the wonderful weather, and the kids were having a blast playing on the train! Brett even got the canoe out and paddled around with the kids in the park near the river, since the water level is up higher than usual. All in all, spring has sprung! It feels to be out enjoying town, and seeing the Katy Trail full of people!

The Katy Boxcar Guesthouse is Back!

Fully renovated for 2010! If you visited in 2009 you probably wondered what was going on in the side yard as we stripped the old boxcar down to its steel frame and literally rebuilt it from the ground up!

Located just steps from our bed & breakfast, the Katy Boxcar offers a nice, family-sized lodging option that includes a queen-size bed, two twin beds, a kitchenette, seating area, air conditioning, and bathroom with full size shower and tub combo.

The Katy Trail State Park is the old M-K-T Railroad Line, or Katy, for short. I can't think of a better place to stage your daytrip or weekend getaway exploring the Katy Trail than the Katy Trail B&B's Katy Boxcar!

Who would have thought that a 70-year-old boxcar would ever be the recipient of a "green" renovation! As we restored the Katy Boxcar into the Katy Boxcar Guesthouse at the Katy Trail B&B, we made it as eco-friendly as possible.

One day we were working with blown cellulose insulation and paperless sheet rock, the next we were uncovering the original 2 inch thick walnut flooring and working with locally sourced materials.

We dismantled a 65-year-old greenhouse in St. Louis and reused the cypress tongue and groove decking to create the new, weather-tight exterior walls on the boxcar...

What a journey... It's not every day you get to bring a boxcar back to life!

Going green makes sense, and it also ensures that your stay is as comfortable as can be.

Please help us spread the word that we're making sure the Katy Boxcar is around for another 70 years!

So whether you are a railroad buff, have a Thomas-the-Tank-Engine-crazy kid (like me!), or just love the Katy Trail, check it out! It's a great place to enjoy Rocheport.

See you on the trail!
